David A. Black is a Managing Partner responsible for the operations of our offices located in Eastern Ontario, including Ottawa, Kingston and Trenton. Mr. Black has been licensed as a Private Investigator since 1989. Previous to this, he was a Military Police Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces as well as, a Police Officer with the Trenton Police Department for 14 years. During that time, he worked on various undercover assignments, including a lengthy joint force investigation with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Drug Enforcement Section.

Mr. Black is an active member of the American Society for Industrial Security(ASIS). He obtained the prestigious designation of Certified Protection Professional(CPP) through ASIS in 1996. Mr. Black is also a past President of the Council of Private Investigators - Ontario(CPIO) and is a Certified member of the Council of International Investigators(C.I.I.).

Subsequent to this, and prior to joining King-Reed & Associates Inc.™, Mr. Black was the Director of a successful Eastern Ontario based investigation agency primarily practicing in large insurance and criminal defense related matters. David is well known for his interviewing and interrogation skills and has often been called to lecture in this area. He is also actively involved in providing advice and training in Risk Management and Facility Security for various corporate clientele.

Dave is the Coordinator of Corporate Risk Solutions for King-Reed’s Eastern Division operating out of Ottawa, Ontario.

He is a licensed private investigator and a specialist in financial investigations, money laundering and organized crime. He is a specialist in the use and application of state-of-the-art proprietary software to assess the vulnerability and impact of threats and risks on corporate security.

Dave holds a degree in law from the University of Ottawa, graduating with honours and articling with a local Ottawa law firm. He has successfully completed numerous courses in business, law and money laundering from Queen’s University, Algonquin College and the Canadian Police College. He is currently studying for professional accreditation as a CPP, the professional security accreditation recognized by the FAA in its anti-terror Sky Marshal Program. Dave is bilingual and is security cleared to “Secret” by the Government of Canada.

Dave is a former Sergeant with the Proceeds of Crime Unit for the RCMP, specializing in the investigation and prosecution of organized crime under the Proceeds of Crime legislation and has conducted numerous investigations in that field. He is extremely knowledgeable in the area of money laundering and other techniques utilized by organized crime to subvert large quantities of cash and other financial instruments, misappropriate funds and launder the proceeds of crime.

Dave is currently on the Board of the Association for the Protection of Heney Lake. He is active providing presentations to various business, regulatory and professional associations on money laundering and organized crime.

Nino Calabrese is a Managing Director and a Vice President of our Central Division.

Nino has been a licensed Private Investigator since 1984 specializing in the management of undercover operations, investigations into internal corporate theft and fraud, and organized crime investigations.

He continually updates his knowledge to retain his expertise in the field of corporate risk by attending seminars and courses presented by a variety of local, national and international organizations including ASIS International, the Council of International Investigators and the Ontario Independent Insurance Adjusters Association.

Nino travels throughout North America providing exceptional investigation services relating to employee dishonesty, infringement of intellectual property rights, internal theft and corporate fraud. He has been successful in locating missing persons, identifying potential assets and financial information and was instrumental in breaking up one of York Regional Police Service’s largest international organized crime auto theft ring.

As Managing Director of our Toronto Office, Mr. Calabrese has a large staff of professional investigators to assist those who require our services.
